Throwback Thursday | Darude

Throwback Thursday: Darude

‘Sandstorm’ can be credited as one of the most classic party throwbacks of our generation thanks to its creator and trance producer, Darude.  In the late 90’s Darude (Ville Virtanen) edged his way into the music industry after supplying radio stations with continual demos of his newest work.  After his idol, JS16 signed him to his own label 16 Inch Records, Darude blasted into the millennium, captivating the world with one of the most well known EDM tracks in the world: ‘Sandstorm’.

Living up to its name, ‘Sandstorm’ took the music industry by storm and became the world’s best selling 12” vinyl of 2000.  The double Platinum and Gold successes of his first album Before the Storm, prompted Darude to set out on a 7-week “Tour de Trance” in the United States which was a massive success.

Now Darude has conquered almost all aspects of the music industry; from additional album releases, his radio show “Salmiakki Sessions” on ETN.fm, and the appearance of his work in countless movies, shows and other media outlets, Darude’s work will forever be branded into our minds.

Catch Darude at Foundation Nightclub alongside local support Johnny Monsoon, Chronus and Trey Rossick.

Rough Road Bus Tour | Benassi & Congorock

Fall is looking miiiiighty fine for show-goers here in Seattle.  Besides the annual FreakNight, the grand opening of USC Events’ new nightclub Foundation and the various shows that it will play host too, a legend will be returning to the Emerald City.

Some know him as Italian Stallion, the Godfather of Electro or just plain old Benny Benassi, but here in Seattle, we fondly remember him as the man who blew our minds at this year’s DayGlow Paint Party.  Friday, November 2, 2012 Benassi will once again be returning to Seattle for his Rough Road Bus Tour.  As if our ears weren’t excited enough, he will be joined by bass master Congorock and support Pink is Punk for a night of ’dark, cool, sweaty and smooth sound‘.
In case you want to get up close and personal with the artists themselves, Benassi and Co. will be hosting exclusive meet and greets on the Rough Road tour bus.  Entering is simple, just buy a ticket online before October 31st and you will be automatically entered to win!  If you happen to buy a ticket from the Showbox Box Office, be sure to provide them with your contact information.  Its a win-win either way!
So, when the days after FreakNight roll around and you want nothing more than to be back on the dance floor, you’ll only be waiting for a week.  Don’t take your dancing shoes off just yet…..

Drop The World: DJ Dig Dug

The Seattle EDM scene has found itself rising from the ashes thanks in great part to the dedication of a select few who have been involved in the music’s evolution since the beginning.  These Northwestern dj’s, producers, promoters and most of all, fans have been aiding in the development of music since before some of us were born.  If you live in the Northwest and have been thriving from the increase in show frequency, there is no doubt that you have already been exposed to various members of this local talent.

If you haven’t heard of him before, then you had better get listening. DJ Dig-Dug is well known throughout the Seattle community and has already made his mark globally, rising to the #18 spot on Beatport’s Top 100 Glitch Hop chart for his remix of ‘Kloser’.  Though now based out of New York, we can guarantee that Dig-Dug’s dedicated influence in Seattle will continue to meld the genres that we love so deeply.
